When I hear people say they do not respect anyone, my guess is that they are saying that there is no one they admire in all aspects of life. Very few people hold up the high standard for respect, especially in these days when the private lives of public figures are put under such close scrutiny of the media.In essence of respect is accepting a person for what they are and what they present themselves to be. The challenge to potential new members (PNMs) is navigating rush successfully. The goal of rush is to get a bid. Many girls who do not get a bid rack their brains trying to figure out why they were not chosen by a particular - or any - sorority. While there are strict guidelines against discrimination of all kinds, there is a very calculated "formula" for observing and choosing new members. Rushees or PNMs will go to a series of parties.
